Improve your Phrasing when Singing

Phrasing

The way you communicate is pretty important. Specifically, the way you shape your sung phrases can determine how well you deliver the message to your audience. So, in this video, we are going to learn more about phrasing when singing…we’re literally going to learn about the long and the short of it.

Despite defying specific rules, there are three fundamental principles that we need to keep in mind when developing better phrasing in our singing: 1. Consider the Context of the Song. The context is shaped by things like the subject matter of the lyric and the instrumentation of the composition. 2. Observe Literary Signposts. This means you’ll need to adhere to things like punctuation and the nuance of grammar. And 3. Apply Artistry to your Phrases. The context and the literary signposts should all come together in your artistic application.
