A Night to Remember...

The scene was set for an exciting night… close to 30 of our performers descended on the Brisbane Arts Theatre during the afternoon of Sunday 16th November to prepare for a memorable night of performance. It was ‘action all stations’ as technical crew prepared lighting plots, staff prepared front of house and assisted singers with their sound checks, the hair stylist worked busily to curl, straighten and slick long locks into place, and performers prepared themselves backstage with tongue trills, lipstick, guitar tuning and slipping into stilettos… the nervous energy was building… but so too were the storm clouds.

2009 Here We Come!

What a year! In summary, 2008 has been a fantastic year for the Djarts studio, with solid performances from students and teachers alike.

2009 will be even stronger with plenty of opportunities for Djarts students to be actively involved in a variety of performances including the Café Series (term 1-3) and the Student ShowCase. The Café Series promises to be bigger than ever with the addition of two sets, “Intermediate Set” & “PRO Set”. Two students will have the opportunity to present 4 and 6 song sets respectively. This is all designed to extend the learning opportunities in performance. If you are interested in being involved in any part of the Café Series ‘09, start talking to your Djarts Voice Coach and register your interest.

¶ SINGERS WANTED: New Vocal Group is seeking singers with the hope of performing emerging Australian composers works. For more information email here. All voice types welcome.

¶ FEMALE VOCALIST NEEDED: Startup band is seeking Gold Coast-based female vocalist with interest in mixed styles of music. Someone with instrumental ability is also required. We’re going to focus on producing original and distinctive work & not performing too much in the way of covers. People with little or no band experience welcome.  You can contact Tony by email.

¶ MALE VOCALIST WANTED: Male Musical Theatre Teenage Artist Required. I’m looking for a young male to perform with in various Brisbane Competitions and Eisteddfords. I am a hard working, passionate musical theatre performer and would love to have a male partner to work with this year. I would be keen to work on some comedic, theatrical, modern songs. ¶ ENTERTAINERS NEEDED: Overseas Opportunity for Eco-friendly band. Michael Weston Organisation is seeking a band for a three month contract at India's first 5 star Eco-hotel. We are most interested in a trio consisting of 2 girls and one guy with sequenced backing and preferably some instruments, but we will submit any applications from other combinations of musicians/singers.
