Vision:
To facilitate professional voice instruction in a manner that is both progressive and practical to equip and support vocalists ranging in experience from amateur to professional with current contemporary technique.

‘Progressive Vocal Development’ – At djarts we work with the ethos that any significant development in an individuals ‘singer ability’ is a long term and continual process. We do not believe in ‘quick fixes’, we encourage all students to see their voice as an instrument to be developed over an extended period of time with regular use.

‘Getting to Know your Instrument’ – One value that all our staff share is a passion for physiology, the knowledge of which forms a foundation for another passion, vocal health. We believe that in ‘getting to know’ how your voice and body work together to ‘sing’ you are best able to establish and maintain healthy vocal technique and achieve your potential as a vocalist.

‘Reaching your Potential’ – One major ethos that we work with at djarts is striving to assist all vocalists to achieve their individual potential. Each vocalist is seen on their own merit as a performer in their own right, each receiving the focus and care they require. As a result of this ethos we see a range of vocalists seeking individual tuition through our studio, from amateurs who take voice lessons for fun and enjoyment through to the working professional, and everyone in between.

‘Equipping the whole performer’ – Through their own experience as professional artists our staff understand that your performance as a vocalist is impacted by a range of complex factors from medical through to practical habits. Apart from working on your vocal ability our staff will coach you in the development of performance ability, encourage you in managing performance anxiety and provide practical feedback on performances. Additionally, djarts has a range of referral options who work in team with Daniel and the staff to ensure that any major concerns are dealt with for you as a performer; these include an Ear, Nose and Throat doctor, a Speech Pathologist and a Psychologist.

Facilities:
Our studio is situated on a private premises in a purpose furnished studio room with a range of facilities and features:

· Fully integrated computer run facilities

· Multi-media format amenities including CD, MP3, DVD, VCR, Minidisk, Midi, and Tape

· Teaching Aids including medical moulds and posters

· Vocal analysis software

· Extensive library of music and vocal reference texts, including over 4000 backing tracks.

· Functional PA system for vocal performance during lessons including a Sennheiser Wireless EW300 Microphone.

· Clean, tidy and private learning environment with air purification for healthy learning.

We have taken every opportunity to ensure your learning experience is productive. Our latest engagement of the ‘Sing and See’ vocal analysis software is just one example of how we are continually looking for ways to enhance your lesson time.

History:
Djarts was established in July 2001 by Daniel Kay conducting lessons for 6 half-hour students each week in a spare bedroom. Since that time the contemporary vocal studio has grown enormously in size and reputation to be one of Queensland’s leading and largest private teaching studios with nearly 100 individual lessons provided fortnightly; predominantly in Brisbane.
